About the Book

Hello Everyone!

I am proud to announce my new book “Chasing My Child’s Education - A Staten Island Mother’s Struggle”.  My book is a memoir about my journey with my boys who struggled in their earlier years of childhood with Dyslexia.  It is extremely  frustrating  to have two children who have no issues socially or cognitively but struggle to read and grasp the English language.  I find myself even today meeting parents or listening in chat rooms about the same struggles I had with my boys almost 14 years ago. This has lit a fire in me to tell my story.  To let the NYC Department of Education REALLY know what it is like for our children and us parents going through this.  I enrolled my boys in one school after another trying to get the services in reading they needed only to face one hurdle after another. Writing this book was a walk through time for me and an emotional one as I retold it.  I kept the story true to the way I lived it and made it as down to earth as possible. I wanted to shed light on the issues in my book while making it an easy read.  My goal is to advocate for a multi-sensory approach to learning as early as PreK.  

1in 5 people have Dyslexia and with early intervention it makes the difference between success and failure for our children.  Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy my story.
